MAILING LIST MEMBER FAQS
NCTTRAC has ended the use of traditional ListServs and moved to Distribution Lists.
All subscriptions to prior ListServs have been migrated to a corresponding Distribution List. If you were previously subscribed to mailing lists and want to maintain those subscriptions, no action is required. The form located here is for the purpose of subscribing or un-subscribing to mailing list that are now handled via Distribution Lists.
How do I subscribe to or unsubscribe from a mailing list?
Your list subscriptions can be handled in two ways, either via the web or email.
Using the web, visit the list information form HERE and fill in the subscriber information. Then below, find the mailing list you would like to subscribe to, or unsubscribe from. There you can make the proper selection for each list.
You can also send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org if you know the name of the list you would like to join. Include the list name, your name, title, office number, and the name of your organization. Please include the subject line “Distribution List Subscriptions” in your email.
Once you have initiated a subscription to a mailing list via one of the above methods, you will receive all emails distributed to that list.
How can I find out which NCTTRAC distribution lists I am subscribed to?
Simply send an email to email@example.com requesting the status of your distribution list subscriptions. Please include the subject line “Distribution List Subscriptions” in your email.
I am not able to send a message to a mailing list, which I used to be able to send to, what happened?
One of the reasons we made the decision to move away from listservs was email security. They are a ripe target for spammers and cyber crooks attempting to spread malware, viruses, and gain illegal access to computer systems through email scams.
Even after implementing stringent security protocols, ensuring the safety and security of all emails passing through our servers was becoming a very time consuming and hands on process. In an effort to maintain the integrity of our mailing lists, we restrict the ability of list members to send to the distribution lists. By default, only committee chairs, chairs elect, and other select committee members will have the ability to send to the distribution lists.
Certain exceptions may be made on a case by case basis and with NCTTRAC staff approval. Inquiries should be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org.
